Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Cheaha Region — Speaking Up for Abused and Neglected Children

More than 14,000 of Alabama’s most vulnerable children are attending court hearings, adjusting to new homes and navigating the child welfare system every day. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for the best interests of these children.

Our goal is to provide a dedicated CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child to give them a voice and help them thrive in a safe and loving home. With your support, Together We Will achieve that goal.

CASA Advocate Leigh Twigg shares with us her “why” for becoming a CASA.

“My WHY for being a CASA…. Hearing the words, ‘Thank you for caring about me. I love you.’ Seeing big smiles and sparkling eyes when it’s a visit day. Feeling like I make a difference, even if it’s one child at a time.”

Thank you Leigh for going above and beyond for your CASA kids. You ARE the difference and we are so happy to have you on our team!

Happy Thanksgiving! We are so thankful for all of you!

We asked CASA Volunteer Blake why he chose to become a CASA. His response was “Several years ago I had the opportunity to go to Vietnam with a non-profit and work with orphan children on several different projects. As much as I would love to make that a permanent move, that just isn’t feasible. Last year I was introduced to CASA and realized the need for representation of children right here in our back yard. I’m proud to be a part of an organization that takes such pride in the responsibility needed for assisting those children.”

We are so thankful for Blake and all the hard work he puts in while also working a full time job. It takes dedication and passion to do both!
