Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Cheaha Region — Speaking Up for Abused and Neglected Children

More than 14,000 of Alabama’s most vulnerable children are attending court hearings, adjusting to new homes and navigating the child welfare system every day. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for the best interests of these children.

Our goal is to provide a dedicated CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child to give them a voice and help them thrive in a safe and loving home. With your support, Together We Will achieve that goal.

What does a CASA provide? A volunteer tasked by the Court with advocating for the needs of an abused or neglected child in foster care provides consistency. For three year old Hudson, consistency was difficult to maintain as he shuffled from home to home trying to find his perfect fit. Through a sea of changing placements, mental health providers, child care professionals, and welfare workers, his eccentric CASA walked with him through each devastatingly methodical, yet promising, transition. While working with a skilled team led by a passionate Judge, this CASA quickly bonded with a little guy whose extraordinary potential needed her voice.
During a pleasant monthly visit interacting with Hudson at his daycare, the CASA painted us a picture of other children calling out for her. Hudson clutched her hand and quickly replied, “This is MY best friend; she’s here for me!”
Dear Hudson, and all other children victim to abuse or neglect in the Cheaha Region, we are here for you.
However, not every “Hudson” will receive a CASA volunteer due to a disproportionate number of volunteers to the number of children in the child welfare system. You can help.
Do you want to step up for a child like Hudson? Apply to be a volunteer today at CheahaCASA.org.

Beautifully said by Hudson What an impression that must make on his little heart she is here for ME. In his simple way he stated something huge!

There are still a few seats left in our Spring training coming up soon. Your words matter to children.
