Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Cheaha Region — Speaking Up for Abused and Neglected Children

More than 14,000 of Alabama’s most vulnerable children are attending court hearings, adjusting to new homes and navigating the child welfare system every day. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for the best interests of these children.

Our goal is to provide a dedicated CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child to give them a voice and help them thrive in a safe and loving home. With your support, Together We Will achieve that goal.

We are thrilled to be one of the charities supported by the Sunny King Charity Classic. Thanks to the generosity of the Sunny King Automotive Group and more than 200 golfers, six children who have been victims of abuse and/or neglect will be provided with a dedicated advocate who will seek out their best interests while they navigate a very difficult time in their lives.

We are proud to be a part of such a charitable community and couldn't do this work without you! If you would like to volunteer or make a contribution of your own, visit cheahacasa.org.

At Cheaha CASA, we believe it is important to equip our volunteers with not only training on how to navigate the lives of our children in foster care, but also how to navigate their own lives during the journey alongside children victim of abuse and neglect. At this month’s continuing education opportunity, we heard from Stacey Jackson (MSSW, MS, LICSW-PIP; Owner and Therapist Rise Counseling; Clinical Medical Social Worker SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice.)

Stacey brought a passion with her for CASA that dates back before the program was even brought to our area! With that, she talked to our staff and volunteers about ways and strategies to better manage their own mental health needs and, in turn, be able to walk with our children and families and their needs better. We all left feeling inspired!

Thank you, Stacey Jackson, for all you do in our community and your commitment to our volunteers. Finally, thank you to Golden Springs Baptist Church for allowing us to use your facility for this wonderful training!
