Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Cheaha Region — Speaking Up for Abused and Neglected Children

More than 14,000 of Alabama’s most vulnerable children are attending court hearings, adjusting to new homes and navigating the child welfare system every day. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for the best interests of these children.

Our goal is to provide a dedicated CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child to give them a voice and help them thrive in a safe and loving home. With your support, Together We Will achieve that goal.

Back to school means more stability for children in the welfare system. How can we help our foster children thrive in school? Providing children under the Court’s supervision or DHR’s custody a CASA volunteer greatly increases their success in school!Children and youth who have experienced abuse or neglect, and are currently in the child welfare system, may reenter schools after a significant period of remote learning, or enter a new school with higher levels of stress and uncertainty. But this is also a time for these children and youth to be excited about reconnecting with stability, as they look forward to seeing their friends, teachers and staff, and return to their extra-curricular activities.

One of the biggest risks for our older youth in care is aging out without permanency. There are children who age out with no place to go. Consider this morning what difference a caring, consistent volunteer would make to the life of an older teen to influence their path, and visit cheahaCASA.org to apply to help tear this highway to the ground! Please share this, people need to know.
