Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Cheaha Region — Speaking Up for Abused and Neglected Children

More than 14,000 of Alabama’s most vulnerable children are attending court hearings, adjusting to new homes and navigating the child welfare system every day. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for the best interests of these children.

Our goal is to provide a dedicated CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child to give them a voice and help them thrive in a safe and loving home. With your support, Together We Will achieve that goal.

Children that are victims of abuse and neglect and children in foster care need our help. Understanding how you can help can often be overwhelming in a system with so many powerful ways to make a difference. Being a CASA volunteer is one way you can help Change a Child’s Story.

Not every child in our foster care system is given a CASA volunteer simply due to a lack of enough trained community volunteers to work one on one with them and the need for additional funding through private donations and business sponsorships.

The next training to become an advocate in Calhoun, St. Clair, and Talladega counties is coming up in February. Apply by visiting CheahaCASA.org/volunteer. Volunteering with our children inside the Court and foster care is not for everyone, but everyone can do something. Everyone can do something.

Gardens and children may need a lot of the same things, but we’re happy to say you don’t have to have a green thumb to join us in our next training! In fact, we know a couple hundred abused and neglected children teetering through the court system that could benefit from a variety of occupational and educational backgrounds. So grab your gardening gloves, stethoscopes, turn out gear, lesson plans, chef’s coat, steel toed boots, or whatever your day job has you toting and head to CheahaCASA.org/volunteer to sign up! ...
